Springfield mobilizes late to stop the surge

SPRINGFIELD, Mo.—The Springfield Cardinals continued their series with Wichita on Thursday night.

Springfield was hoping to get Tommy Edman back on the roster.

He missed Wednesday night’s game due to pain.

Edman was back in second place.

He was the designated hitter.

But it was the Surge that was the first big highlight.

Luke Keaschall led off the game with a home run.

He will play in the Future’s Game during All-Star weekend.

As for Edman, he started the game with a pair of strikeouts.

But he singled in the fifth inning, just before Mike Antico’s two-run home run.

That gave Springfield a 4-3 lead.

And Springfield wins 6-4.
