Burglar caught stealing clothes and taking them home

Owner Rachel Ward wondered where he had found them after her one-year-old black cat, Marvin, brought home a pair of black socks last month.

A rescued cat was caught repeatedly stealing from neighbours’ homes, bringing back baby onesies, vests and tea towels through the cat flap.

Owner Rachel Ward, 36, was surprised when her one-year-old black cat Marvin arrived with a pair of black socks last month and she wondered where he had gotten them. But this was not an isolated incident and burglar Marvin was soon bringing her clothes every day after probably sneaking in through neighbouring windows.

Rachel has lived on the same street in Menai Bridge, Anglesey, North Wales, for 11 years and says her neighbours have seen the funny side of things. She even filmed Marvin sneaking through the cat flap with his loot in his mouth. Rachel, a nurse, said: “When I came home from work there were new items on the floor.

“Sometimes he’ll come in and make a noise almost to say he’s pleased with himself after stealing things from this person’s house. After he took everything from the house I decided to put it all on Facebook and most people find it funny.” Rachel has five cats in total – Alfie, Rupert, Arthur and Amber – and says they behave “normally” unlike Marvin who stands out from the others.

Marvin, named after Marvin in Home Alone, has managed to sneak through neighbors’ windows and steal clothes, which he does to Rachel when she comes home from work. At first, Rachel found the way Marvin presented her with his stolen goods “strange” and “confusing.”

She said: “I thought it was an isolated incident. I didn’t know how Marvin had gotten all these items until I saw it on camera and I was shocked.” Rachel’s neighbour recently became aware of the situation when Rachel posted on Facebook about the items she had seen disappearing, as she had seen her grandchildren’s clothes go missing.

Luckily, she found the funny side of Marvin’s actions and began welcoming Marvin and Rachel’s other cats into her home. Rachel said: “One of my other cats goes into the same house but doesn’t steal anything from them like Marvin does. She found it hilarious and I have now returned the items Marvin stole from her.”
