Patrick Mahomes’ father arrested for driving with an invalid license after recent DUI charge

The father of Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes Sr. has once again gotten into trouble while driving.

In February, he was arrested for DUI, and it was recently discovered that five months later, he was also arrested for operating a vehicle without a valid driver’s license, according to TMZ.

Last month, Mahomes Sr. was arrested and ticketed for this offense on June 29 at 8:30 p.m. CST, as noted in the police report. It should be noted that this also happened in Tyler, Texas, which is the same city as his “drunk driving” incident.

His son, the superstar quarterback, was invited to speak on the subject just before the Super Bowl in February.

“He’s fine. I don’t want to go into too much detail, but he’s fine regardless of the situation.” Patrick told reporters“It’s a family matter, so I’ll stick to family. That’s all I have to say at this point.”

As for the specifics of the February arrest, Mahomes Sr. was driving with an open container of alcohol (16 ounces of Coors beer), after admitting to “drinking a few beers while watching a game at a local bar,” which was a statement the Smith County Sheriff’s Office recorded.

It was the 53-year-old’s third DUI arrest (2008, 2019), which under state law could carry a prison sentence of up to 10 years. Still, the following week, he was at the Super Bowl to watch his son play, and saw Mahomes Jr. win his third championship.

Mahomes Sr. had an 11-year career as a pitcher in MLB, playing for the Minnesota Twins, Boston Red Sox, New York Mets, Texas Rangers, Chicago Cubs and Pittsburgh Pirates. As a relief pitcher, he appeared in 308 games and posted a 42-39 record with 452 strikeouts, a 5.47 ERA and a 1.59 WHIP in 709 innings pitched.
