£11m player sends emotional message as he leaves Manchester City

Manchester City have seen many players leave the club over the years.

For example, during the previous summer transfer window, Ilkay Gundogan, Cole Palmer, Aymeric Laporte and Riyad Mahrez said goodbye to the Etihad Stadium to start new chapters elsewhere.

This current summer transfer window has seen other City players end their stay at the Manchester club and join new teams.

One of them is Sergio Gomez, who recently joined Real Sociedad for a reported £8.4million (via BBC Sport).

Now the defender has shared a message with City supporters ahead of the next step in his career.

Sergio Gomez sent farewell message to Manchester City fans

Following the official announcement of his transfer to Sociedad, Gomez took to social media to share this message to City supporters on his X account.

He said: “Two unforgettable years with @mancity. We won titles, had unique experiences and made dreams come true. Defending the emblem of a club that I have always loved is priceless.

“I will continue to encourage the club from afar because this club is part of my heart! I will be eternally grateful to it!”

Gomez set to leave City

During the 2022 summer transfer window, City paid £11m to sign the Spaniard from Anderlecht.

During his time at the Manchester club, the 23-year-old made just 38 appearances in all competitions, 14 of which were as a starter.

With that in mind, it’s no surprise he left City in the hope of getting more game time, although he said last year that he had enjoyed working with Guardiola.

Now that he has shared this emotional farewell message on social media, it shows just how much he enjoyed being part of the club during such a successful period.

Going forward, everyone at City will undoubtedly be hoping that Gomez’s move to Sociedad goes well for him.
