CORRECTION: Headlines in a previous version of this article incorrectly stated the number of injured as four.

A 48-year-old Salisbury, Maryland, man died Friday night in a crash near Delmar that injured four other people, according to Delaware State Police.

The name of the deceased man is being withheld until his family is notified.

The 48-year-old man was driving south on Providence Church Road in a 1996 Subaru Outback, police said. He ran a stop sign at Route 54 (Delmar Road) at 9:30 p.m., police said, and struck a 2017 Nissan Rogue that was traveling west on Route 54.

The left front of the Nissan struck the left front of the Subaru, police said. The 48-year-old driver of the Subaru, who was not wearing a seat belt, was pronounced dead at the scene. The 40-year-old female driver of the Nissan and the three child passengers suffered “minor but non-life-threatening” injuries, police said.

State Police continue to investigate the crash. Anyone with information is asked to call Master Corporal K. Argo at 302-703-3264 or contact Delaware Crime Stoppers at 800-847-3333.
