Cayuga Health Announces Affiliation with Cancer Resource Center of the Finger Lakes – Finger Lakes Daily News

Officials from Cayuga Health and the Cancer Resource Center of the Finger Lakes (CRC) have announced the affiliation.

“Cayuga Cancer Center has worked closely with CRC for decades, and the team at Cayuga Health is very pleased to announce this enhancement to our relationship,” said Dr. Martin Stallone, CEO of Cayuga Health. “This affiliation ensures that the essential support services CRC has provided to cancer patients in our community will continue for decades to come. With the additional resources from the health system, CHS looks forward to enhancing and expanding the support services CRC provides to those in our community.”

The CRC was founded in 1994 as the Ithaca Breast Cancer Alliance. Over the past 20 years, the CRC’s mission has evolved to create and sustain an inclusive community of support for people living with and affected by various types of cancer. The CRC Board of Directors made the decision to affiliate to ensure the financial sustainability of the important services the organization provides to people living with cancer in our region.

“The Cancer Resource Center team provides personalized, one-on-one support and facilitates support groups to ensure that no one in our region faces cancer alone,” said Jerry Dietz, CRC Board Chair. “The affiliation with Cayuga Health will provide cost savings by allowing more of the funds raised for the CRC to directly support patient care and continue our mission-driven work.”

Donations already received by the CRC and those collected in the future will directly benefit CRC programming. The CRC Fundraising Marathon and 5K Run will take place again this year on October 5.

Tom LiVigne, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Cayuga Health, said, “The efforts of Cayuga Health Cancer Center and the Cancer Resource Center of the Finger Lakes have a natural synergy. But rest assured, all cancer patients and survivors in the community will continue to have access to CRC services, regardless of where they receive care. Cayuga Health is pleased to ensure the continued existence of CRC support programs for our entire community.”
