Richard Simmons Shared Heartfelt Birthday Message Day Before His Death

On July 12, the day before his death, Simmons reflected on his previous birthday celebrations.

Richard Simmons, a beloved Hollywood icon, has died.

The fitness icon, who had been keeping a low profile of late, died on July 13, the day after his 76th birthday.
NBC News reported that, according to two law enforcement sources familiar with the matter, Simmons was found unconscious at his Hollywood Hills residence Saturday morning.

Following a call around 10 a.m. local time, Los Angeles Fire Department and LDAP responded to the residence, where Simmons was pronounced deceased. The exact cause of his death remains under investigation.
On July 12, the day before his death, Simmons recalled his previous birthday celebrations.

“When I was teaching at Slimmons,” he wrote on Facebook, referring to his former studio, “they would have special cakes made for me.”

“One of them was an airbrushed sheet cake with my picture on it… the other one was a Barbie doll and her dress was the cake,” he continued. “And what about this cake with a big disco ball on top. It was my birthday when we recorded Groovin in the House… that one was a three-foot, three-dimensional cake in the shape of one of my Dalmatians… You know I cried.”

Simmons then sent his fans a message of gratitude.

“Many of you have sent me birthday wishes on Facebook and other platforms,” he shared. “I really appreciate it. I don’t know when your birthday is, but I wish you a happy birthday and good health!”
