Ruto offered me a CS position in the cabinet and I declined – George Wajackoyah of Azimio

Wajackoyah noted that he was called and informed of the offer but refused to accept it as he is not impressed with the way the Kenya Kwanza administration is running the country.

Wajackoyah, who was speaking at the burial ceremony of Henry Ongoma, brother of former Kakamega Governor Wycliffe Oparanya on Saturday, July 13, 2024, added that he further advised the caller to offer the position to any other interested person.

“I was offered to be a minister. Nilipigiwa simu juzi. Nimeambia Ruto, ‘pack up your position, give it to whoever wants it and go to hell. I don’t care. I am very bitter today,” Wajackoyah said.

The statements come just days after President William Ruto dismissed his entire cabinet, except for First Cabinet Secretary Musalia Mudavadi and Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua, whose offices were unaffected by the move.

President Ruto is in the process of assembling a new cabinet and has told Kenyans that the new cabinet will be the face of Kenya and reflect the will of the people.

“You have all seen what I have done this week to rebuild this government. This will enable us to unify Kenya,” Ruto said.

“Going forward, we will work as Kenyans to ensure that we harness all opportunities, talents and capabilities to build our economy, create jobs, manage our debt, fight corruption resolutely and ensure that Kenya moves forward.” The President added.

On his part, Vice President Rigathi Gachagua stressed that the new cabinet should not include arrogant figures who will be preoccupied with politics instead of serving Kenyans.

“We support you 100% in your decision to dissolve your Cabinet and re-establish a new one that will help you work for Kenyans. The CSs who are not arrogant and who do not play politics, those who will be by your side to help you run the country.

“We assure you of our full support in reconstituting your government so that you get a good team that will create efficiency, harmony and put Kenyans before their interests,” Gachagua pointed out.

The government was dismissed following pressure from Kenyans who are demanding accountability and good governance from the Kwanza regime.
