Horror moment: Deckchair war turns violent as women fight and grab each other’s hair in front of shocked tourists

Shocking footage has shown a fight between two women on a popular Italian beach as they battled over a sunbed.

The couple can be seen fighting and grabbing each other’s hair on the compact sand as other swimmers look on.

Videos capturing the chaos have since spread online

Several videos have since circulated online and gone viral.

A local government official said two women had asked for deckchairs by the sea to have a better view than those behind them who had already been on the beach for hours, Il Mattino reported.

When their request was denied, the women clashed, wrestled and pulled each other’s hair as the sun-drenched sand suddenly looked more like a UFC octagon.

The furious women then turned on the rescuers who had tried to escort them away, witnesses said.

The fight continued and one witness said it took “more than half an hour to restore calm.”

The fierce battle took place in the seaside resort of Varcaturo, near Naples.

MP Francesco Emilio Borrelli called the fight unimaginable and said women needed to be “re-educated”.

In a statement on Facebook, he said: “A fight between women in broad daylight, in front of families and children.

“What for? A deckchair by the sea. We have exceeded all imagination.

“Those who think they can do whatever they want, by sowing panic on a beach, cannot go unpunished.

“We demand that these women be identified and brought to justice as quickly as possible.”

The women, whose faces are not visible in the footage, continue to fight as bathers rush in to try to end the battle.

Deckchair disputes are not uncommon during the European summer, with tourists filmed fighting over the best spots at seaside resorts.

But wild physical altercations are rare.

In Greece, drones have been deployed to patrol the sun lounger areas occupied by tourists.

Angry residents even formed a protest group dubbed the “beach towel movement,” forcing authorities to take action.
