Mayfield Independent Schools Board of Trustees Announces Field Trip Details for Upcoming School Year

MAYFIELD, Ky. — The Mayfield Independent Schools Board of Trustees held a meeting Monday where it announced details of upcoming school trips for the 2024-25 school year. The board also discussed and approved a hiring contract, a purchasing outlook and a grant award.

Notable locations and dates of sports trips include:

Mayfield Middle School Volleyball Camp: July 21-23, Murfreesboro, Tennessee.
Mayfield High School Volleyball Match: July 23, Martin, Tennessee.
Mayfield High School Football Game: July 27, Bowling Green, Ky.
Mayfield High School Boys/Girls Golf – All A: September 6-7, Richmond, Ky.
Mayfield High School Band – Kentucky Music Educators Association Quarterfinals: October 19-20, Owensboro, Ky.
Mayfield High School Band – Kentucky Music Educators Association Marching Band State Championship: October 25-27, Louisville, Ky.
Mayfield High School Band – Kentucky Music Educators Association All State: February 5-8, Louisville, Ky.

The council also revealed that New Orleans is the destination for the 2025 enrichment trip, March 15-18. Established in 1998, the Mayfield Enrichment Program organizes annual trips for students to learn, explore and gain new experiences outside the classroom.

Previous destinations include Washington, DC; New York; the Grand Canyon; San Diego; San Francisco; Paris; and Rome.

The board then approved the adoption of a contract for a district-wide occupational therapist who would be available three days a week. Another approval was the beginning of the process of selecting and purchasing a fully equipped maintenance vehicle for the district’s fleet.

Finally, Superintendent Billy Edwards highlighted funding provided by the Kentucky Department of Education’s GMAP grant that will strengthen the district’s special education services.
