East-side wine shop opens in new space with more event space

July 15, 2024

This paid play is sponsored by Dawley Farm Village.

Cellar 54’s new location is right next door to the old one, but offers a much better layout for purchasing wines and hosting events.

Find it in a shopping center in Dawley Farm Village between Buffalo Wild Wings and Budget Blinds.

“I’m really happy with it,” said owner Jenna Snyder. “The space is bigger and it’s a better fit for what I do. There are a lot more options for the space than being next door.”

The shop specializes in wine, but the new location “will allow me to add a little bit more inventory and change some of my offerings,” she said. “It’ll still be primarily wine, but I’d like to get a little bit more into spirits because I’m finding that people are stopping in and wanting to get a bottle of liquor with their wine.”

With a larger space, customers can bring their own food, even slow cookers, as Snyder encourages gatherings, with or without reservations. There is seating for 55.

“We’ve had birthday parties and have regular groups like mahjong players, and we want to do more of that,” Snyder said.

She also hosts special events, including weekly wine tastings—for which she encourages reservations—and ice cream and wine pairings, as well as classes such as an introductory wine 101 class.

Customers can join a monthly wine club for $45 or $75 with no commitment and also have Snyder Wines source for them.

“If they can’t find it but know it’s available in the state, I’ll do my best to find it,” she said. “I like the challenge.”

Store hours are 11am-6pm, Tuesday through Friday, and 10am-5pm on Saturdays. The store is open later on Thursdays for wine tastings. For more information and to contact Cellar 54, click here.

“With more restaurants and other venues coming to this side of town, those hours are likely to change and I may start staying open later,” Snyder added.

His former space in Dawley Farm Village is attracting interest, according to Ryan Tysdal of Van Buskirk Cos., who has listed it for lease.

“Retail sales along the Veterans Parkway corridor continue to be strong,” he said. “The former Cellar 54 location is the only existing retail space available for lease in the area.”

The space measures 1,492 square feet with an open sales floor and back room storage.

“Its flexible layout could accommodate a wide variety of tenants without having to do a lot of construction work,” Tysdal added.

“Retailers are attracted to the area by aggressive residential growth on the east side as well as traffic on Veterans Parkway.”
