FISU Rhine-Ruhr Games 2025 announces new highlight

FISU Rhine-Ruhr Games 2025 announces new highlight

An exceptional summer of sport awaits North Rhine-Westphalia from 16 to 27 July 2025, as the RUHR GAMES 25 will join the FISU World University Games Rhine-Ruhr 2025.

The RUHR GAMES 25 will take place from 17 to 20 July 2025 in Bochum as the world’s largest multi-sport event of the year 2025, whose main sporting target group largely coincides with that of the RUHR GAMES. After five successful editions, this multifaceted festival has established itself as a must-see in the sporting state of North Rhine-Westphalia as an innovative format. For the first time, the RUHR GAMES will therefore not host any top-class sporting competitions, but will enrich the programme of the FISU World University Games Rhine-Ruhr 2025 with a mix of demonstration competitions in action sports and the new Olympic disciplines as well as live music, culture and international youth meetings.

Free exciting program

During the four days of the festival, visitors can enjoy a comprehensive and varied programme free of charge, consisting of cultural highlights, an open-air concert, street art, workshops and hands-on activities in the impressive setting of the Jahrhunderthalle in Bochum’s Westpark. The integration of RUHR GAMES 25 into the FISU World University Games Rhine-Ruhr 2025 will help to strengthen the RUHR GAMES brand nationally and internationally.

“The FISU World University Games Rhine-Ruhr 2025 and the RUHR GAMES will form a strong duo next summer. The unique mix of trendy sports, street art activities and music enriches the atmosphere surrounding the competitions of the best student athletes,” said Regional Director Garrelt Duin.

“The FISU World University Games Rhine-Ruhr 2025 offer the RUHR GAMES a unique platform to further increase the national and international appeal of this established festival. This collaboration is an excellent example of how the Games can have lasting effects for the region,” concluded Niklas Börger, Managing Director of Rhine-Ruhr 2025 FISU GAMES gGmbH.
