The woman suffers from Ehlers-Danlos syndrome, which makes her able to dislocate her shoulder and then put it back in place.

Instagram influencer Tia Wilson shared that she dislocated her shoulder to fall asleep comfortably. Yes, you read that right. Wilson suffers from Ehlers-Danlos syndrome (EDS), which causes her to dislocate her shoulder in her sleep and then snap it back into place when she wakes up.

According to the NCBI, Ehlers-Danlos syndrome is “a genetic disorder affecting collagen formation and function. It affects virtually every organ system, which can lead to significant morbidity and mortality. Complications of this disease include arterial rupture, organ rupture, joint dislocation, chronic pain, and fatigue, among others.”

In the video shared by Wilson, she talks about how her therapist was shocked to learn about her sleeping habit. She then goes on to talk in the clip about how she is able to dislocate her shoulder and fall asleep. Here’s how people reacted:

One person said: “I have Ehlers-Danlos syndrome and I thought you had a goofy pillow. Instead I ended up gasping and walking away immediately. I don’t even know what happens after a shoulder dislocation.”

Erin Wigginton, another Instagram user, added: “My best friend had Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome. Her left shoulder wouldn’t go back into its socket and she wasn’t ready to have the surgery to put it back in its socket. So because of exactly what you did, she lived in horrible, constant pain for decades. She passed away from complications of Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome at the age of 39. I miss her every day. Please take better care of yourself.”

“I do this a bit too, but I have little to no issues with my shoulders,” someone else commented.
