The Grammy-nominated singer, who released her latest album “Rebel” in April, said she never talks about “political issues” because she doesn’t feel like it’s her “place” or her “platform.”

“I have my platform to focus on the hope of Jesus and lead others to HIM through music,” Wilson “However, there are times when you have to speak out.”

Wilson continued: “The tragedy that took place this weekend was one of those moments. When I heard what had happened to Donald Trump “I was shocked, heartbroken, disturbed and angry. I immediately felt hopeless thinking about what this world had become.”

The 22-year-old singer called it the first “assassination attempt on a president of my generation” and called the attempt “despicable” and “purely evil.”
