UNC basketball offer is HUGE for Tar Heels with Kendre Harrison

The North Carolina Tar Heels have taken a step forward in adding a big-name dual-sport recruit in Kendre Harrison.

The Reidsville, North Carolina, native is a top-10 football recruit in the 2026 class and a top-30 basketball recruit. On Monday, he took a big step forward in his recruitment, narrowing his offer list to six.

Harrison announced that he will focus on UNC, Tennessee, Penn State, Oregon, Florida State and Miami. This is huge for North Carolina, as they have offered him positions in both football and basketball, hoping to land the prized recruit.

With Harrison announcing his top six, it’s hard to say where UNC stands, but one thing is for sure, the basketball program’s offer may have changed things in a big way for the Tar Heels, as Rivals reporter Sam Spiegelman pointed out:

North Carolina picked up the state’s top 2026 prospect in Chapel Hill last month.

During the visit, Tar Heels basketball coach Hubert Davis extended the tight end’s basketball scholarship.

“Just having the opportunity to play basketball and football for an incredible program… to do that in my home state, next to Reidsville, is a blessing,” the nation’s No. 1 TE said.

“The way they offered me basketball,” he continued. “The offer from Coach Hubert Davis and Coach Mack Brown to basketball is really an incredible opportunity. It’s an incredible time in my life and it’s something I’ll never forget – how they did it and showed a lot of love. Most importantly, I had a smile on my face.”

Harrison will visit Oregon in late July and will likely make additional visits this fall. He has already visited the UNC campus several times during his recruiting and will likely return.

Having the opportunity to play for a top basketball program could be the difference maker in this recruiting process.
