New music festival featuring international artists cancelled five days after tickets went on sale

Perth’s new music festival, which featured international headliners including Jorja Smith, J Hus and Headie One, has been abruptly cancelled just days after tickets went on sale.

Promise Village was set to fill Langley Park in Perth in October with a highly anticipated line-up.

But potential festival-goers woke up to find they couldn’t buy tickets.

“Due to unforeseen circumstances, the Promise Village on October 12, 2024 will no longer take place,” reads a message from ticket seller Megatix.

“Refunds were processed automatically, so no action is required.

“Please allow up to five business days for funds to reach your account used for purchase.”

Promise Village, presented by Triple J, announced last week that it had more than 5,000 people registered for its pre-sale.

Pre-sale tickets have only been open for five days, while general sale tickets went on sale two days ago.

The festival’s cancellation was as sudden as the event’s announcement earlier this month.

“Promise Village is officially underway. The lineup includes global superstars,” organizers said in a social media post two weeks ago.

Promise Village has yet to publicly address its cancellation.

Festival organisers have been contacted for comment.

The news will certainly disappoint music fans, who previously flocked to social media to say “Perth is getting what it deserves” and “are so excited”.

But Promise Village is just the latest in a string of Australian music festivals to announce their sudden cancellation this year.
