Shiga Lin Apologizes for Social Media Mistake

11 July – Shiga Lin’s team had to apologize to mainland Chinese fans after a recent Weibo post from her account appeared to imply that the singer views mainland China and Hong Kong as two different entities.

As Mingpao reported, the error occurred recently, when a post on Shiga’s Weibo stated that she had “not performed overseas for a long time” since the COVID-19 pandemic.

The post was quickly edited shortly after, with the lines: “In recent years, due to the pandemic, I have not performed outside of Hong Kong for a long time.” However, some netizens have already seen the original post and shared it online.

Shiga’s management, Starz Entertainment, has since released a statement apologizing for the mistake, saying it was posted by a new employee without the singer and the company’s consent. They added that the post has since been corrected and the new employee fired.

Meanwhile, the singer’s husband Carlos Chan recently shared in an interview that Shiga and the company have already handled the incident and his wife is now focusing on rehearsing for her upcoming concert on the mainland.

“There was a misunderstanding in the communication, because her social account is not managed by a single person, and she is not responsible,” he added.
