Happy Birthday Clover: Meet Chesterfield’s Arson K-9

CHESTERFIELD COUNTY, Va. (WRIC) — Chesterfield’s arson K-9, Clover, is turning six next Friday, and Chesterfield County Fire & EMS wanted to show the public what this sweet pup can do.

Clover, a Labrador retriever, joined Chesterfield County Fire & EMS back in 2019 after being trained in accelerating detection and helping fire investigators determine the cause of fires.

Clover can sniff out accelerants — substances used to initiate and spread a fire — at a scene and is able to determine whether a fire might be arson or not.

She’s a little different than the other employees at the department, as she works for treats, but everyone who meets her can attest — she loves people.
