Is Ole Miss football ready for its moment?

Is Ole Miss football ready for its moment?

SEC Media Days came and went for Ole Miss football a few days ago.

The Rebels continued their 2024-25 season full of expectations, including the program’s “Production Day” THURSDAY.

There are plenty of reasons to be optimistic. Ole Miss won a record 11 games last season and has been ranked in the top 10 in each of the last three editions. The College Football Playoff is now officially a 12-team tournament.

Ole Miss has the sixth-best chance to win the title. Quarterback Jaxson Dart is a Heisman Trophy candidate. The fact is, the possibilities are (seemingly) endless.

Zach Berry (OMSpirit.com) and David Brandt (Associated Press) officially start the countdown and look ahead in this all-new (July 17, 2024) edition of “The Flagship,” powered by College Corner.

“I don’t see any major weaknesses,” Brandt said. “The offensive line, you wonder how it works, but they have experience on defense. They have very good special teams. Running back, quarterback, receiver — there’s really nothing that should hold them back.”

“What I like is that they’ve also developed some depth, like in the Robert Nkemdiche or Tony Conner era. Their top six or seven players could compete with any other player in the country. But when you get to the 20th or 25th best player, that’s when you really see the depth issues.

“I think both Ole Miss players are solid. You have to be a little lucky with injuries, but they’re a team that can maybe absorb an injury or two without going completely off the rails.”
