Tom Brady ‘ignored me’ when I offered to replace Antonio Brown on the Bucs

Hall of Famer Terrell Owens wasn’t happy about being backed by Tom Brady when he lobbied to join the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and replace Antonio Brown.

During an appearance on The Bubba Dub ShowOwens said he used Randy Moss as a conduit to try to get to Brady late in the 2021 season.

“Tom Brady ignored me, man,” he said at the 39:25 mark. “… At that point, it was the end of the season. I didn’t need to play a full season. They just needed somebody to fill the holes with AB leaving at receiver.”

Owens said he was ready to be used primarily on third downs and in the red zone. The six-time Pro Bowler even went so far as to say the Bucs could have won the Super Bowl that year if they had signed him.

Tampa Bay had to look for help at receiver before the playoffs after Brown left the field in a Week 17 win over the New York Jets. Chris Godwin had already suffered a torn ACL before that.

Owens’ recent comments come as no surprise as days after Brown’s sudden departure, he was ready to answer the call and team up with Brady.

Owens was 48 at the time and hasn’t played in the NFL since 2010. Those two factors alone raise obvious questions about how much of an impact he could have had on the field. Add in the difficulty of learning a new offense and adjusting on the fly with the playoffs fast approaching.

While this comeback scenario seems unlikely, it’s clear that TO still harbors some grudge against Brady.
