Sam Thompson breaks silence to confirm Zara McDermott relationship

Sam Thompson has opened up about his girlfriend Zara McDermott after weeks of speculation about their relationship.

After the couple were dogged by split rumours following a series of heated arguments, Zara found herself once again in the spotlight over the weekend – this time over allegations made against her dance partner Graziano Di Prima. The Italian has been accused of “hitting and kicking” the reality star, with the dancer vowing to clear his name.

After a tense few days, Sam has now told his girlfriend he is “very proud” of her. In a heartbreaking statement, the Love Island star, 27, said she was “too scared” to speak out about the abuse she allegedly suffered while partnering with Graziano on the show last year, following news that the 30-year-old dancer had been axed from this year’s series.

I’m A Celebrity winner Sam, 31, has been a regular on Strictly and has now taken to Instagram to support her once again. After weeks of uncertainty surrounding his relationship with the documentary filmmaker, with many fearing a break-up, Sam has shared an advert of his ‘wife’ posing for Look Fantastic on the London Underground.

Captioning the snap, in which Zara smiles as she holds up a bottle of shampoo, he wrote: “So proud of you goose @zaramcdermott,” followed by a love heart and a crying emoji. Sam then told a passenger in his video that Zara was his “daughter” and “wife,” adding in the caption: “Explaining to the guy that I know her and I’m not weird,” followed by a laughing emoji.

The post will come as welcome news to the couple’s loyal fans, who have been worried about the pair, who have been plagued by rumours they are splitting following a series of rows after Zara was seen in public in tears. Sam also appeared to be crying at the recent TRIC Awards, but he denied crying, telling his friend Pete on their podcast that he had just received “bad news”.

Since news of Graziano’s alleged abuse of Zara broke, prompting the Sicilian to take to Instagram to say he “deeply regretted” his actions, the Love Island alum, who Sam calls “Goose”, has been inundated with support.

Taking to Instagram earlier this week, she told fans that while joining Strictly Come Dancing was a “dream come true”, her time in the training room with the Italian dancer was more of a nightmare.
