UCLA Film and Television Archive Announces Groundbreaking Film Series Called Queer Rhapsody

LOS ANGELES, Calif. (KABC) — The UCLA Movie & Television Archive presents Queer Rhapsody, a groundbreaking LGBTQIA+ film series featuring over 50 narrative and documentary films.

This celebration will take place across five iconic Los Angeles locations from July 19-28, providing joyful communal spaces for radical engagement.

“The power of art in community is at the heart of this series,” said May Hong HaDuong, director of UCLA Film & Television Archives.

Queer Rhapsody opens tomorrow with “Second Nature,” a documentary that debunks myths about female inferiority and homosexuality, narrated by Elliot Page.

The series includes contemporary features, experimental short stories, avant-garde documentaries and international films, with screenings available from $9 to $15 and some for free.

“We are living in a pivotal moment where it is essential to connect to celebrate the queer experience,” said Martine McDonald, Creative Director of Queer Rhapsody.

Events will take place at the American Cinematheque at the Egyptian Theatre in Hollywood, the American Cinematheque at Los Feliz 3 in Los Feliz, the Eagle Theatre at Vidiots in Eagle Rock, the Oculus Hall at The Broad in Downtown LA and the Billy Wilder Theater at the Hammer Museum in Westwood.
