Massachusetts Senator Elizabeth Warren is optimistic that US President Joe Biden will be the Democratic nominee in the 2024 presidential election, but says Vice President Kamala Harris is “ready” to serve as the party’s nominee if the former withdraws.

Warren pointed out in an interview withOn the weekend, MSNBC that Biden is the Democratic candidate.

“Look, Joe Biden is our nominee and he has a very important decision to make. Joe Biden has been a transformative president, someone who gets up every day to fight for working people,” she said.

Warren also expressed gratitude to the president for leading the federal government for four years.

“I am deeply grateful to Joe Biden for all that he has accomplished.”

The current president of the United States has been in the spotlight due to his health crisis and recent debacles, including the incompetent debate against former President Donald Trump in June, where he appeared ill and out of touch with reality.

Biden’s growing health risk has raised questions within the Democratic camp, especially since he tested positive for COVID-19 on Wednesday.

Democrats are reportedly pressuring Biden to step down and Vice President Kamala Harris to be nominated as their presidential candidate.

Harris served as Biden’s vice president for nearly four years and was named as the president’s running mate for his 2024 election campaign. If Biden is re-elected to another term, then Harris will resume her role in office.

But the revelations made by Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez during an Instagram Live session have raised questions about whether Democrats want Harris to be the new nominee or whether they want someone else to take charge.

Ocasio-Cortez revealed that the Democratic Party wants the “entire ticket,” Biden and Harris, to disappear. “They (Democrats) want the entire ticket to disappear,” she said.

However, Senator Warren has commented on the matter, saying that the fact that Harris is willing to step in if Biden steps down gives her great hope, in retaliation for Ocasio-Cortez’s claims.

“What gives me a lot of hope right now is that if President Biden decides to step down, we have Vice President Kamala Harris who is ready to step up, unify the party, take on Donald Trump and win in November,” she said.
