‘Rest Area of ​​the Future’ Opens Near Yosemite National Park

Automaker Rivian aims to change the travel experience for electric vehicle owners with this “first of its kind” Electric vehicle charging station near the west entrance to Yosemite National Park in Groveland, California.

The new station will serve the thousands of visitors who pass through Groveland each day on their way to Yosemite National Park, 24 miles to the east. Open to the public daily from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. (24-hour access to high-speed charging for Rivian owners) The Rivian Yosemite charging station will offer amenities such as a lounge with a small library, a “make your own” trail mix station, complimentary coffee and water bottle filling fountain.

Outside visitors will find five DC fast-charging stations and restrooms surrounded by landscaping using native plants and educational games that teach sustainability. This is Rivian’s first foray into this type of structure, but the company plans to add more charging stations. “around national parks and other high traffic areas across the country.”
