Retired Lieutenant General HS Ramsan

Retired Lieutenant General HS Ramsan

Retired Lt Gen HS Ramsan, after claiming that Indian security forces were exploiting the ongoing conflict in Myanmar by waging a proxy war against the Nagas in eastern Nagalim, accused the GoI of a desperate attempt to wipe out the Naga political movement.

“It is now imperative that I denounce in writing the tactics used by the Gol to sabotage our Naga political movement,” he said.

According to Ramsan, the GoI, in its final push to settle the Indo-Naga political issue within the framework of the Constitution and the Union of India, made him an offer of Rs 100 crore (and negotiable for more) in the month of May 2022, with an assurance that all cases against him and Naga Army MLA Longvibu would be dropped if they returned home.

The deadline for the offer was set for December 2022, he said, adding, “Later in September 2023, when I was in the process of leaving national service, through their discreet messenger, I was again asked to form another faction with an assurance that all necessary funds would be provided, and I was assured of a negotiated settlement for the Nagas of Manipur with some sort of autonomy or 6th Schedule within the Union of India.”

“This offer came with a message that if we refused, we would face difficult times and would have no safe place for us. Let us not forget that before the infamous Shillong Accord (1975), the Gols used various methods of pressuring the Nagas to submit to their whims,” he continued.

Ramsan said that it is the same Gol policy that is at work today, “once again.”

“I would not be an exception to such financial offers from the Indian security apparatus; many of our national workers could have received similar offers from our adversary. We refused to trade our rights for money and bow to their whims. We remained firm in our principles in support of the Naga cause,” he said.

“We have no problem with the KNA-B and other armed ethnic groups”

Ramsan opined that after failing in its ploy to derail the Naga political movement, the Gol is now working closely with the KNA-B and its accomplice ethnic armed groups to wipe out their base in eastern Nagalim to further their selfish agenda in India.

“I therefore humbly and ardently urge our Naga brothers, presently in India and across the world, to be aware of the danger posed by this action of our adversaries,” he said.

He further clarified that they had no problem with the KNA-B and other armed ethnic groups in Myanmar, nor were they against them.

“However, the Nagas will not tolerate and will fight to the bitter end any armed group that conspires with our adversary to strangle our political movement and pose a threat to our very existence as a nation,” he added.

“Indian security apparatus exploits Meitei-Kuki clash to crush Naga political movement”

Ramsan warned that the Indian security apparatus’ “heinous” attempt to crush the Naga political movement is manifested in the current Meitei-Kuki clash.

“All Nagas must come together to reflect on what the Gol have promised to the warring groups, i.e. the Kukis and the Biren government of Manipur, why their interests are aligned to destroy and disintegrate us further? One must never forget the thousands of lives martyred for our cause, the endless sufferings endured by our people during the many decades of our national movement; God will surely pronounce the right judgment one day when He deems fit,” he said.

“Beloved Nagas, the God-given rights of the Nagas will be preserved and can never be infringed. So, let us remain true to God’s promise. We appeal to all Nagas in general, and national workers and youth in particular to support us and stand up in unison, and move forward to face the irrefutable challenges posed by our adversaries.”
