Caitlin Clark Sends Message to Fans After First WNBA All-Star Game Appearance

Caitlin Clark is ready to relax and take a break from basketball. The Indiana Fever rookie said she’s looking forward to some rest and relaxation after another record-breaking performance at Saturday’s WNBA All-Star Game.

Clark finished Saturday’s game with 10 assists, a record for a rookie in a WNBA All-Star Game. She missed tying Sue Bird’s record of 11 assists in an All-Star Game.

Additionally, Clark scored four points and grabbed a rebound in Team WNBA’s 117-109 win over Team USA. The team was led by Arike Ogunbowale, who also had a career-high performance, scoring 34 points while hitting eight three-pointers.

After the game, Clark sent a message to fans. After the quick transition from Iowa’s National Championship Game appearance to the WNBA, the young guard is ready to take a break.

“What an awesome All Star experience in Phoenix!!,” Clark wrote on X. “The fans and city were amazing… Time to rest and relax. See you in a month.”

Rookies have very little break between the end of the college season and the start of the WNBA season. Clark played in the national championship game for the Hawkeyes on April 7, was selected first overall by the Fever on April 15 and played her first regular-season game on May 14.

A month-long break for the Olympics is therefore certainly deserved.

One of the highlights of Saturday night’s WNBA All-Star Game was when Clark found fellow rookie Angel Reese for an easy basket. Although the two players have been described as bitter rivals, they were teammates in Phoenix.

This probably won’t be the last time we’ll see these two meet. Clark and Reese are both destined to make Team USA and represent the United States at the next Olympics. But Saturday was the first time the two played for the same team in their careers.

Clark has been sensational in the first half of her rookie season. She has already become the first rookie to record a triple-double in WNBA history and holds the league’s single-game assist record with 19 against the Dallas Wings.

It will be interesting to see if the time off helps Clark’s game even more in the second half of the WNBA season.
