‘We see the quality in the room’ – Fulham star Alex Iwobi makes statement of intent ahead of new Premier League campaign

Super Eagles midfielder Alex Iwobi has said he and his Fulham teammates are targeting a good place in the Premier League table next season, Soccernet.ng reports.

Iwobi joined Fulham from Everton last summer for a reported £20m and has quickly become a key player for the club. Last season, he scored six goals and provided two assists in 33 games for the club.

His contributions ultimately helped Fulham finish 13th in the English Premier League last season.

After the summer break, Iwobi returned to Fulham for pre-season. And ahead of the new Premier League campaign, the 28-year-old midfielder has made a statement of intent.

The Super Eagles star said that at the end of last season, he and his teammates were not happy with their league position. But they are targeting a better position in the English Premier League next season.

“I can’t wait for the new season to start again,” Iwobi told the Standard.

“With Fulham we had a bit of an inconsistent season but we know how good we are.

“When we discussed the end of the season, we said that we saw the quality of the team and that we were going to try to move up the rankings. Everyone is impatient and ready to play.”

Fulham play their first game of the season against Manchester United at Old Trafford on August 16 and will be looking to make a good start to the campaign.
