Not only has Formula 1 been a source of excitement and suspense for fans, but so has the F2 sprint race with a battle for the lead, close racing and last-minute drama.

Mercedes Star Andrea Kimi Antonelli took the lead from Richard Verschoor on new soft tyres, but they quickly deteriorated and the youngster was forced to pit.

Antonelli’s tyre problems allowed Verschoor to retake the lead, where he cruised to a comfortable victory.

However, Verschoor was disqualified due to a technical infringement, after the board on his Trident car was found to be below the minimum thickness required, and in breach of the technical regulations.

Following the FIA’s decision to disqualify the Dutchman, Invicta Racing’s Kush Maini was awarded the race victory, the first of his F2 career.

In an official document, the FIA explains: “After examining the matter thoroughly, the stewards have determined that the rear panel of car 22 (Verschoor) was less than the minimum thickness required and therefore constitutes an infringement of article 3.4.3 of the technical regulations.”

Elsewhere on the right track, Ollie Bearman, who joins Haas, was involved in a thrilling clashgoing three abreast, stuck between Jak Crawford and Juan Manuel Correa.

All three drivers remained unscathed as they battled wheel to wheel for points, with Bearman losing out and finishing the race in P10.
