Louisiana Democratic delegates plan to unanimously endorse Vice President Kamala Harris for president at DNC

BATON ROUGE, La. (WAFB) – Following President Biden’s announcement that he would not run for reelection and his subsequent endorsement of Vice President Kamala Harris for the position, the Louisiana Democratic Party has offered its full support.

The PLD previously released a statement following Biden’s decision to withdraw from the presidential race.

The party now plans to further support the vice president at the Democratic National Convention, where it intends to enlist all Louisiana delegates to support her as the 2024 Democratic presidential nominee.

According to LDP Chairman Randal Gaines, state delegates met virtually Sunday night where they overwhelmingly made the decision.

Gaines released the following statement on the:

“We are grateful to President Joe Biden for his remarkable leadership and are committed to honoring his legacy by working tirelessly this fall to keep the White House in Democratic hands. I am proud to announce that Louisiana Democratic delegates will join President Biden in supporting Vice President Kamala Harris as our nominee. It is time for us to come together and, with our full support, we can defeat Donald Trump again and continue Joe Biden’s legacy of achievement and progress for our country. We look forward to a productive, energizing, and historic convention where we will nominate the first Black woman as our Democratic nominee.”

The official vote will take place at the convention, which begins on Monday, August 19.
