Chetan Sharma, Managing Director and Editor-in-Chief of ‘Desh Sevak’, Deeply Shocked by His Mother’s Death

Chandigarh, July 21

The Managing Director and Editor of ‘Desh Sevak’ Chetan Sharma was deeply shocked when his revered mother Nand Rani Ji passed away at PGI Chandigarh at the age of 79 at around 12:00 pm. Mata Nand Rani Ji completed her Masters in Physics from Punjab University, Chandigarh and was a gold medallist. Mata Nand Rani Ji retired from Government High School (Girls), Rajpura Town in 2002 as a Principal. He was a wise and dedicated man to the society. Chetan Sharma has been the Managing Director and Editor of ‘Desh Sevak’ newspaper for a long time. They are very efficient managers.
Chetan Sharma’s father, Late Comrade JR Sharma P.&T. After retirement from the department, he came directly to the CPI(M) State Party Office at Cheema Bhavan, Chandigarh and served as State Committee Member and Secretary of the CPI(M) State Office at Cheema Bhavan till his last breath. Mata Nand Rani ji continued to fully cooperate with Comrade JR Sharma ji as a helpful life partner.

Comrade Sukhwinder Singh Sekhon, CPI(M) State Secretary and Director General of Desh Sevak and members of the State Secretariat, Comrade Lahimbar Singh Taggar, Bhup Chand Channo, Major Singh Bhikhivind, Gurdarshan Singh Khaspur, Balbir Singh on the occasion of the demise of Mata Nand Rani Ji. Jadla, Sucha Singh Ajnala, Rupbasant Singh Baraich, Gurnek Singh Bajjal, Sukhpreet Singh Johal, Abdul Satar and Ram Singh Noorpuri in a joint statement expressed their deep sorrow over the untimely demise of Mata Nand Raniji and offered their condolences to Chetan Sharma and the family.
Apart from this, the entire staff of Cheema Bhavan, Comrade RL Modgil, State Committee Member and State Office Secretary, Comrade Kuldeep Singh, State Committee Member and Former Managing Director of ‘Desh Sevak’, Comrade Ranjit Singh, Printer and Publisher of ‘Desh Sevak’, Comrade Sunil Kumar, District Committee Member of Chandigarh, Comrade Muhammad Sahnaz Gorsi, District Secretary of Chandigarh District and all the members of the District Committee also shared their grief with Chetan Sharma and his family on the demise of Mata Nand Raniji. Apart from this, the entire staff of ‘Desh Sevak’. A condolence meeting was also held and a minute’s silence was observed at Mata Nand Raniji and heartfelt condolences were expressed to Chetan Sharma and his family.
Mata Nand Raniji was cremated at Sector 25 crematorium. Comrade Sekhon’s son Jaspreet Singh, State Secretariat Member Comrade Gurdarshan Singh Khaspur, State Committee Member Comrade Satnam Singh Baraich, many State Committee members, relatives and friends of Comrade Chetan Sharma from Chandigarh and Mohali districts attended the funeral procession of Mata Nand Rani Ji. The funeral pyre of Mata Nand Raniji was witnessed by Agni Chetan Sharma and Mataji’s grandsons Aryan and Aditya.
