Patriots’ offer to San Francisco 49ers for WR Brandon Aiyuk revealed

The New England Patriots have been looking for a receiver to fill the top spot on their depth chart for some time now, and Brandon Aiyuk of the San Francisco 49ers could be the perfect fit.

After Aiyuk officially requested a trade last week, another report came out that the Patriots recently called the 49ers about the receiver. Now, it looks like we have exactly what New England offered San Francisco.

According to Mike Florio of ProFootballTalk, the Patriots offered the 49ers a second-round pick for Aiyuk ahead of the 2024 NFL Draft, but the deal was declined. New England was known to be trying to move up in the draft to add a player at the position before trading for Washington’s Ja’Lynn Polk.

Florio also indicated that New England is willing to give him an extension worth about $28 million per year.

If the possibility of a trade is back on the table, the Patriots will need to pursue aggressively to land a target that will help their rookie quarterback adjust to the league.

In 62 career games over four years, Aiyuk recorded 269 receptions for 3,931 yards and 25 touchdowns.
