Police are investigating the “violent death” of a British man found in a Spanish seaside resort.

The body of a 35-year-old man has been found in the seaside resort of Mojacar, north of Almeria. The alarm was raised at around 11pm last night after the gruesome discovery near Vantanicas beach in Spain.

The body of the British man, whose identity has not been revealed, was reportedly found several hours after being found in a location described as “beautiful” by many visitors on sites such as Tripadvisor. Blood was reportedly found in and around the body.

The discovery comes hours after the presumed body of a missing Briton was found, more than a week after Spanish mountain police were called in to help with the search. Steven Michael B, 48, went missing in the village of Las Salas in northern Spain on July 11 after an argument with his wife.

On Sunday, a body was discovered in the bell tower of the village church. Manuel Valbuena, mayor of the municipality of Cremenes, which includes Las Salas, told local press that the body had not yet been officially identified.

It appears that a neighbor raised the alarm, although there is no indication that it was a crime. Police are expected to announce after the autopsy that they are not looking for anyone else in connection with Steven’s death.

Authorities have admitted they were concerned for the safety of Steven, who allegedly left his wife in a garage after an argument and abandoned his belongings before abandoning his car. The operation to find him was launched in the municipality of Cremenes on July 11, when he was reported missing.
