Nia Jax Admits She’d Never Heard Of Popular Star Until This Shocking Moment

Nia Jax wasn’t known as a popular star until she shockingly appeared in WWE NXT.

The WWE-TNA cross-promotion has been in full swing in recent months with Knockouts Champion Jordynne Grace challenging Roxanne Perez for the NXT Women’s Title at Battleground. The match between the two women also saw the return of Ash by Elegance, formerly known as Dana Brooke.

Joe Hendry also made waves in NXT, taking on Shawn Michaels after being quickly eliminated from a number one contenders battle royal in his surprise debut. Reports indicate that Hendry is expected to be heavily featured as the cross-promotion continues, and sure enough, the star returned to NXT on July 9 to team with Trick Williams.

Speaking on a recent edition of The Battleground podcast, Nia Jax was asked about the crossover between TNA and WWE, and she called it “incredible.”

“Unbelievable. I think it speaks to the importance of WWE and how generous they are. These other companies have a bigger platform to showcase their talent, and to get fans to come to their shows is really cool.”

Jax had particular praise for Jordynne Grace, saying:

“Being able to see girls like Jordynne Grace come in. She had a great performance at the Royal Rumble, and seeing her work with some of the girls from NXT was super cool. I think that’s a really cool aspect of what’s going on. It’s new for us too. I never thought we’d be doing this, coming from a different era. It’s actually a really fun thing to do. Being able to showcase so much talent around the world in wrestling. It’s just a matter of luck and being in the right place at the right time.”

“It’s a Cool Thing” – Nia Jax on the TNA-WWE Crossover

However, Nia Jax admitted that she didn’t know Joe Hendry before his surprise NXT debut. After asking fans not to hate her for the revelation, Jax continued:

“To be able to say, ‘Hey, this girl or this guy has been rocking this stage for so long,’ like Joe Hendry. Don’t get me wrong, I didn’t know who he was, and now that they’ve brought him in, I was like, ‘Oh, let me check it out and see his old work.’ It’s a really cool thing to open up our IWC’s eyes to see all these people, and I think it’s a cool thing.”
