Kapil Dev’s Heartfelt Message For Anshuman Battling Cancer: We’ll Have A Drink Together

Former World Cup winning Indian captain Kapil Dev has shared a heartfelt message for his former teammate and former Team India player Anshuman Gaekwad. He is currently battling cancer and undergoing treatment in London and Kapil Dev has continued to be there for his teammate in every way possible. Kapil Dev recounted old memories of him and Anshuman playing together. He also recalled how they both had guided each other and prayed for his well-being. Kapil Dev also said that he has a lot to share with Anshuman and would love to catch up with him for coffee or drinks once he feels better.

“Hi Anshu, I know you are going through a tough time but it doesn’t matter, we all have gone through tough times in life. I remember all the good days. The first time? When I played under you, you were my captain. And I remember when I was captain, you scored two hundred runs in Jalandhar against Pakistan, so good memories. Bad tough times come and go but I know you are a fighter. Come on, take heart and try to live a life, whatever God has given you and I wish you to get better and better and be happy,” Kapil Dev said in a video posted by journalist Vijay Lokapally.

Kapil Dev’s support for Anshuman

It was Kapil Dev who urged the BCCI to provide financial assistance to Anshuman Gaekwad, who was ailing. BCCI Secretary Jay Shah announced Rs 1 crore aid for the former Indian cricketer who is suffering from blood cancer. Shah personally spoke to Gaekwad’s family to extend his support during this tragic time for the former cricketer.

“We all have to go one day, but the best thing about being human is fighting like you do on a cricket field. Whatever happens, happens. I hope we meet again soon. We will all celebrate together. We had a great time. Take care. Whatever happened, it happened for good, and I think you are a wonderful person. We had great stories to tell. We have a lot to talk about, but first, you need to get well soon. We will have coffee together and if nothing happens, we can have a drink together too. Take care. Love from the entire cricket community. We are all proud of you for remembering this. Don’t let us down? Take care? Love Anshu. Take care.”

Kapil Dev had also informed that he was looking to arrange funds for Gakewad with several former cricketers namely Mohinder Amarnath, Sunil Gavaskar, Sandeep Patil, Dilip Vengsarkar, Madan Lal, Ravi Shastri and Kirti Azad before the BCCI announced the aid amount.
