The Rajasthan government will reserve seats for Agniveers in the recruitment of prison and forest guards and state police, Chief Minister Bhajanlal Sharma said.

A statement from the Chief Minister’s Office on Saturday said that Sharma made a big announcement for Agniveers on the occasion of Kargil Vijay Diwas (July 26).

“The Rajasthan government has provided reservations in the recruitment of state police, jail guards and forest guards for the Agniveers who are protecting the country’s borders with a sense of dedication and patriotism,” he said.

“With this decision of the state government under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Agniveers will get an opportunity to work in the state after serving the country,” Sharma said in the statement.

However, the percentage of booking in these services for Angiveers has not been disclosed.

In 2022, the Centre unveiled the Agnipath scheme for recruiting young people aged 17½ to 21 into the Army, Navy and Air Force, largely on a four-year contract basis.

Individuals recruited under this program will be known as Agniveers.

At the end of their four-year term, 25% of recruits from each group will be offered regular service.

The Union Home Ministry has announced that 10 per cent of vacancies for recruitment in the Central Armed Police Forces or paramilitary forces will be reserved for former Agniveers.

Several state governments have also made similar announcements for recruitment of retired Agniveers in their respective police forces.
