Love Island fans spot ‘clue’ Joey Essex ‘faking’ friendship with Sean after shock decision

They were nicknamed the “funny brothers” of Casa Amor by another competitor because they were constantly supporting and congratulating each other.

But now Love Island viewers have noticed that Joey Essex and Sean Stone’s friendship is all fake, following Joey’s snake move during last night’s vote ahead of the final.

Joey proved he was willing to sell out anyone in order to win the show.

The couple had to vote for who was the least compatible on the show and Joey, 33, voted for his friend Sean and his girlfriend Matilda Draper, 24.

Fans expressed their shock on social media, with one saying: “I can’t believe Joey voted for Sean. You couldn’t have written a script like that.”

Another person wrote: “Sean fought not to vote for Joey, but Joey happily voted for him lol.”

Meanwhile, another said: “After all that kissing, Joey still voted to vote Sean out.”

The two islanders appeared to have formed a close bond, spending time talking and supporting each other when they disagreed.

Indeed, earlier this week, Love Island legend Chris Taylor from the 2019 series accused the duo of going too far, after the show received some 253 complaints about their behaviour towards other contestants.

Speaking to The Sun, Chris said: “I think Joey and Sean are probably going a bit too far with this – it’s fair enough guys if you want to have your say, but it’s important to let other people have their say and appreciate that everyone has an opinion – yours isn’t more important than anyone else’s just because you say it.

“I think they both need to relax – at the end of the day they’re making a TV show and it creates drama.

“I don’t necessarily agree with that, I think there are other ways to entertain people than just criticizing another person for their behavior that they’ve already explained, so why do you keep explaining this stuff to yourself.”

Some fans have claimed that Joey and Sean “bully” Mimii and Josh after they repeatedly attack them during and outside of games.

In recent episodes, Joey shocked fans when he revealed Mimii’s “secret mission” and continued to mock the couple during the Grafties challenge and the game A Couple of Sorts.

Chris, 33, explained that he could understand why fans would label Joey and Sean as “bullys” if they were constantly taking

He told us: “If people persist in putting people down for certain things and keep bringing it up and getting involved in other people’s business, that could amount to the ‘B’ word (bully).”

Some have commented that the first celebrity in history, Joey, made a bad career choice by entering the villa.

Chris insisted that the “old-fashioned” behaviour of reality TV will not be accepted by a younger audience, who have “boundaries and morals”.

The live finale of Love Island will air on Monday on ITV2 at 9pm
