Taylor Swift, Ryan Reynolds’ ‘Godkids’ Trolling, Explained

On Thursday, Taylor Swift used her platform to do good. She told everyone to go check it out Deadpool and Wolverine This weekend. Did Marvel write her a check or did she do it because she loves her best friend’s husband so much? We’ll never know, but we can dive into one of the weirdest aspects of the post: Taylor Swift calling Wade Wilson (Deadpool’s official name) “her godchildren’s sperm donor.”

In keeping with Deadpool’s sarcastic, punk-rock nature, Swift is trolling. She’s godmother to Ryan Reynolds and Blake Lively’s children, and she takes her duty very seriously. She’s created characters named after their three daughters on folklore. She dressed up as a squirrel to go trick-or-treating with them one year. She recently guided them behind the scenes of the Eras tour. To these kids, she’s Aunt Taylor.

“A big shout out to Wade Wilson, aka my godchildren’s sperm donor,” is Swift’s friendly dig at Reynolds. I think she’s joking that Reynolds is sterile? And that his dead Pool Did the character have to step in? Whatever the message, Lively approved. She re-shared Swift’s post, adding, “I couldn’t have said it better myself. Which is not surprising considering I’m 14 Grammys shy and haven’t had a single sold-out world tour.” Don’t feel too bad for Reynolds that his wife and best friend are teaming up against him. He probably had to approve Swift’s post before it went live. That’s what friendship is all about: approving social content.
