“God of War” reboot developer Santa Monica Studio is working on a new intellectual property.

The revelation was made via a LinkedIn profile (via ResetEra) of Glauco Longhi who joined the studio earlier this year where he is overseeing character development on the unannounced project.

Longhi was a senior character artist on 2016’s “Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End” at Naughty Dog and the same on the 2018 “God of War” reboot.

He then served as lead character artist on 2022’s “God of War Ragnarök” and as art and character director on Striking Distance Studios’ “The Callisto Protocol.”

In his profile he states: “Santa Monica Studios has offered me the opportunity to return as Character Supervisor, in charge of the entire character development process, on their new unannounced project. So here I am, excited to be back, working with the team again and pushing characters forward in video games.”

Interestingly, the post originally mentioned “their new intellectual property” before being changed to “their new unannounced project.” If true, this would mark a change since Santa Monica Studio has been dedicated internally to “God of War” since 2005.

They have contributed to the external development of titles including Thatgamecompany’s “Journey”, Ready at Dawn’s “The Order: 1886”, Giant Sparrow’s “The Unfinished Swan” and The Chinese Room’s “Everybody’s Gone to the Rapture”.

Santa Monica Studio has yet to announce its next project after “God of War Ragnarök.”
