Richmond legend Dustin Martin announces retirement effective immediately

Richmond legend Dustin Martin has shocked the AFL world by announcing his retirement with “immediate effect”.

In a press release issued on Tuesday morning, Martin said he was eternally grateful for the opportunities the club has given him, including three premiership titles.

“It’s hard to put into words what Richmond Football Club means to me, I love this place so much,” Martin said.

“I will always be grateful for the love and support I have received from the people here.

“To my teammates, the brotherhood we all share is what I appreciate most, as well as the bond with the staff and coaches… thank you all.

“To my family and friends, thank you for your unconditional love and support.

“I have always felt loved and supported by the Tiger Army throughout my career and I will be eternally grateful. The memories we have created together will remain etched in my memory forever. Thank you.”
