Rumor Roundup: Hell in a Cell at Bad Blood, new babyfaces, Logan Paul, more!

Speculating on the rumors surrounding pro wrestling is a favored pastime of many fans, perhaps second only to actually watching the matches. In this daily column, we take a look at the latest rumors being churned out by the pro wrestling rumor mill.

Important reminder: Rumors are just that — rumors. None of this has been confirmed as fact, it’s just circulating around the pro wrestling rumor mill. We track rumor accuracy in a weekly feature called Rumor Look Back you can find here. Remember, take it all with a grain of salt.

Rumors for the Day:

  • CM Punk vs. Drew McIntyre in a Hell in a Cell match is currently planned for the main event of Bad Bloodsays WRKD Wrestling.
  • Fightful Select notes the Bron Breakker vs. Sami Zayn Intercontinental title match at SummerSlam was shortened for time, as it was originally scheduled for around 12 minutes and only went just under six.

  • “As you may have guessed, Roman Reigns and Damian Priest are now listed internally by WWE as babyfaces for their respective brands.” — PW Insider
  • Regarding Rick Steiner’s appearance at SummerSlam, Fightful Select’s WWE sources told the site he fell out of the company’s “good graces” after his transphobic harassment of TNA’s Gisele Shaw at Wrestlecon last year. But since Steiner’s admitted that was wrong and promised it won’t happen again, WWE and the Hall of Famer are now on better terms. The report says Steiner has offered an apology to Shaw, but it’s not known if they’ve spoken since the incident.
  • Fightful also says that internal talk about LA Knight beating Logan Paul “picked up” after Paul’s transphobic tweet about Olympic women’s boxing last week, but the site doesn’t mention if the result was changed because of the controversy. WWE sources told Fightful that the views Paul expressed in his tweet do not reflect the company’s.
  • WWE prepared “tip sheets” on the legends attending SummerSlam to help educate younger wrestlers, who were encouraged to pick the brains of veterans and treat them respectfully. That per Fightful Select.
  • PW Insider says AJ Styles is scheduled for this Friday’s SmackDown.
