The highly anticipated finale of the HBO series Game of Thrones The prequel series was released this week, with The Dragon House The series drew nearly 9 million viewers across multiple platforms across HBO and its streaming service Max. That marked a record-breaking audience for Season 2 of the series, with the August 4 finale also helping Max record its biggest streaming day in the U.S. and worldwide. All of which is to say, I’m not at all surprised that streaming search engine Reelgood also identified the series as the No. 1 TV show this week across all major streaming platforms.

At a press conference the day after the finale aired, showrunner Ryan Condal revealed some major details about what’s coming next — details that may or may not have satisfied disappointed viewers who didn’t get the climactic final battle they were hoping for.

Among Condal’s revelations: The Dragon Housewhich is adapted from the book by George RR Martin Fire and Blood will get two more seasons, concluding with Season 4. Additionally, writing for Season 3 is already underway, with plans to go into production in early 2025.

In other words, there won’t be much of a wait for the series. For now, Reelgood, which tracks 20 million viewing decisions each month across all streaming platforms in the US, from Apple TV+ to Max, Disney+, Hulu, Netflix, Prime Video, Peacock and more, found that it beat out everything else in the streaming universe this week as the biggest series of the moment (a distinction I suspect won’t last next week, but we’ll see).

For the 7-day period ending August 7, the top 10 TV shows in Reelgood’s latest weekly rankings are:

  1. The Dragon House (HBO/Max)
  2. A Good Girl’s Guide to Murder (Netflix)
  3. Presumed innocent (Apple TV+)
  4. Batman: The Masked Vigilante (Prime Video)
  5. Time Bandits (Apple TV+)
  6. The Decameron (Netflix)
  7. The bear (FX/Hulu)
  8. The boys (Prime Video)
  9. Mayor of Kingstown (Paramount+)
  10. Wrong (Paramount+)

As for the rest of the biggest streaming TV shows of the week, we’ve covered most of the other titles on Reelgood’s charts — including Netflix’s new additions A Good Girl’s Guide to Murderwhich happens to be one of the biggest Netflix shows in the US today (#2) and THE the biggest Netflix show in the world this week.

The series, which racked up 7.4 million views on the streaming giant this week, is a six-part crime drama set in a small town in the United Kingdom. One of the show’s best assets is its star: Emma Myers, the spunky, easygoing actress who has already stolen our hearts with her role as Wednesday Enid Sinclair.

The story, based on Holly Jackson’s 2019 novel of the same name, is set five years after a shocking murder-suicide that rocked the fictional town of Little Kilton in the United Kingdom. “Andie Bell, a popular high school student, was murdered by her boyfriend, Sal Singh, who then killed himself,” Netflix explains. “At least, that’s what everyone thinks, including the police. Case closed, right?”

“But Pip Fitz-Amobi (Myers), herself now a senior in high school, sees how this horrific murder still has a hold on her hometown, and she thinks there’s more to the story.”

Pip launches her own investigation, determined to get to the bottom of the case as she researches the case for her final year project. But the problem quickly becomes this: if Sal isn’t responsible, it suggests a murderer is still at large – and Pip herself could be in danger.
