Teenage girl charged with murder after Queensland knife attack | Queensland

A 14-year-old girl has been charged with murder after a fatal stabbing in a southern Queensland coastal town.

Emergency services were called about 9pm on Saturday afternoon after reports a 24-year-old man had been stabbed at Point Vernon in Hervey Bay, about 300km north of Brisbane.

He was taken to Hervey Bay Hospital but died of his injuries on arrival, Queensland Police said.

Police said a 14-year-old girl was taken into custody nearby and has been charged with one count of murder.

She is due to appear in Hervey Bay Children’s Court on Monday.

It is understood that the girl and the man know each other.

Police have urged anyone with information that could help their investigations to come forward.
