After Trump Spaces, Musk Invites Democratic Presidential Candidate Kamala Harris to X

After an X Spaces session with Republican presidential candidate and former US President Donald Trump, Elon Musk has now invited Democratic presidential candidate Kamala Harris to discuss her plans for her potential presidency on the social media platform.

Elon Musk posted his invitation to the Democratic presidential candidate on X. Despite his previous criticism of Harris, Musk said he was “happy to welcome Kamala to X Spaces as well.” Harris’ campaign does not appear to have acknowledged the CEO’s invitation yet.

Harris’ campaign released a statement following Musk and Trump’s “wild” X Spaces session. According to Harris-Walz 2024 spokesperson Joseph Costello, “Donald Trump’s extremism and his dangerous Project 2025 agenda are not a flaw in his campaign, which was on full display for those unfortunate enough to tune in tonight during what was happening on X.com. Trump’s campaign serves the likes of himself and Elon Musk – self-obsessed rich people who will betray the middle class and who won’t be able to livestream in 2024.”

Despite early technical issues, including what the Tesla CEO described as an apparent DDoS attack, Musk and Trump’s X Spaces session, which lasted more than two hours, has been viewed millions of times. At the time of writing, 22.8 million people have tuned in to watch the CEO’s conversation with the former US president.

X celebrated the milestone, despite technical issues. The social media platform noted in a post on its official account that between 7:47 p.m. and 10:47 p.m. ET, Musk and Trump’s X Spaces post was viewed 73 million times. During that time, 4 million posts were made about the CEO’s conversation with the former president, generating a total of 998 million views.

Linda Yaccarino, CEO of X, welcomed the milestone, noting that “real conversations about real issues have raised new expectations among the American people.”
