One woman in the trailer said Laci was “giddy” when she met Scott, while another said Laci believed her husband “was who he said he was.”

In April 2003, four months after Laci disappeared, her bodies and that of her unborn son washed up on the beach in San Francisco Bay. A medical examiner said in 2003 that her body was badly decomposed and missing her head, forearms and a foot. Her abdomen was worn away, the medical examiner said, and there was no evidence she had given birth. The baby’s body likely fell apart shortly before their remains were recovered, the medical examiner said.

When was Scott Peterson arrested?

Scott Peterson was arrested in April 2003 near San Diego, more than a seven-hour drive from his Modesto home. NBC Bay Area reported that he had bleached his hair and was carrying a large stack of cash when police stopped him.

At his arraignment, he pleaded not guilty to two counts of murder.

He was arrested after Amber Frey, a massage therapist living in Fresno, told police they had started dating a month before Laci’s death, but he told her his wife was already dead.

At trial, Laci’s relatives testified that Scott did not seem upset about her disappearance. Harvey Kemple, her cousin, recalled a time when he said Scott became angry because a chicken burned at a barbecue.

“I saw more reaction from him when he burned that damn chicken than when his wife disappeared,” Kemple reportedly said in a 2004 San Francisco Chronicle article.

Scott has spoken about the affair over the years and has always maintained his innocence. His lawyers have argued that Laci was killed after running into a burglar. In the upcoming Peacock series, he expresses regret over his affair and once again states, “I didn’t kill my family.”

“It’s horrible,” he said in a People magazine article published Tuesday, ahead of the Peacock series’ release. “I was a complete asshole for having sex outside of our marriage.”

He also said he regrets not testifying at his trial and wishes he could “show people what the truth is.”
