THIS is the shocking moment a driver was shot in the back after his car was thrown off the road in a broad daylight attack.

Footage showed a car being swerved through a hedge and crashing into a parked vehicle as the horror unfolded in a quiet residential street.

Two people then run towards the wreckage while the confused driver gets out and tries to flee over a fence.

Three gunshots are then heard before the two suspects jump into the tailgate which they used to ram the victim’s car and send it off the road.

Armed police flocked to the Staffordshire village after the horror of August 5.

The victim was rushed to hospital, but his injuries are not believed to be life-threatening.

A 16-year-old boy and a 26-year-old man have been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder.

The attack was condemned by Conservative MP Sir Gavin Williamson, whose constituency covers the area where the horror took place.

He wrote: “I am very grateful for the swift action that has been taken by Staffordshire Police following this shocking incident in Great Wyrley.

“Great Wyrley is a wonderful and diverse village – incidents of this nature are thankfully rare, but they do cause understandable anxiety and concern in the community.

“Please contact the police if you have any information about this, and I advise against speculating on social media to allow the legal process to continue.”

Staffordshire Police have also urged anyone with information to come forward.

A spokesperson said: “At 8.25pm ​​on Monday evening (August 5) we were called to Field Lane after someone heard a suspected gunshot.

“Armed officers attended the scene and found an injured man, aged around 20. He had a back injury consistent with a gunshot.

“He was taken to hospital by West Midlands Ambulance Service paramedics. His injuries are not life-threatening.

“Detectives have been investigating what happened, reviewing CCTV and carrying out door-to-door enquiries in the area.”

Anyone with information has been asked to call police on 101 quoting incident 599 of August 5.
