TNA’s Joe Hendry issues challenge for WWE NXT Title

TNA’s Joe Hendry issues challenge for WWE NXT Title

It was All Ego to kick off tonight’s episode of WWE NXT, as Ethan Page came to the ring to taunt his challengers and celebrate his title reign. Page took aim at several who may have considered themselves top contenders, but then TNA’s Joe Hendry made his return to NXT to get in the ring. After some harsh words from both stars, including Page’s accusation that Hendry’s 15 minutes of fame were almost over, Hendry said he was in it for the NXT Championship and got the crowd chanting as Page exited the ring. Then, out of nowhere, Wes Lee knocked Hendry out, so it looks like Hendry has one more challenger to deal with before a title match can happen.

I stole your thunder

Hendry congratulated Page on winning the title from Heatwave, but he set the champ up for a retort. “And at Heatwave, you shocked the world by winning that title, and you became the talk of WWE… for about 90 seconds until that face came out and ended the show,” Hendry said. “Unbelievable performance against Oro Mensah, you were the talk of the town, but they left here talking about me. So Ethan, it seems like your ego is only saying one thing, but the reality…”

Page interrupted him and said, “If you ask me, what you should do is take your win from last week and go back to TNA. To be honest with you Joe, I don’t know why you’re hanging around NXT.” Hendry responded by making his intentions clear. “Ethan, I’m here for the same reason everyone else is, to win the NXT Championship,” Hendry said.

15 minutes have passed

Page then attacked Hendry again, targeting his growing popularity. “TNA believes in Joe Hendry. NXT clearly believes in Joe Hendry. The whole world believes in Joe Hendry. The only problem is, I don’t believe it. I believe in your song, it makes me sick every time I hear it. I also believe that you’re on the 14th minute of your 15 minutes of fame. You know what I believe in more than anything? I believe that if you’re stupid enough to mess with me and my title, I’m going to expose you like the flashback that you are,” Page said.

“I didn’t do it overnight. I’ve been riding for over 10 years. And everywhere I’ve been, I’ve convinced everybody that’s seen me on stage. I’ve convinced Hall of Famers like Kurt Angle. Booker T is the president of the Joe Hendry fan club. Ethan, your boss, HBK, believes in Joe Hendry,” Hendry said. Hendry then got the crowd singing his song and knocked Page out of the ring, but Wes Lee then came out of nowhere and superkicked Hendry, staring the champ in the face.
