Bandits Kidnap Mobile Police Officer in Plateau State

Bandits have abducted a mobile policeman in Kampani community, Wase Local Government Area of ​​Plateau State, while a soldier accompanying him managed to escape.

The incident occurred on Wednesday evening when the two security officers were travelling from Zurak to Kampani when they were ambushed by the bandits.

Local sources told The Nation that the policeman and the soldier were part of a security team operating in the banditry-affected areas of Bangalala, Kampani and Zurak. While the soldier managed to flee the scene, the policeman was abducted by the bandits.

Sahapi Sambo, a youth leader in the area, confirmed the incident, saying the two security forces were on their way to join their colleagues in Kampani when they were attacked. He added that communities in the area have been suffering from banditry for some time, which is why security forces regularly patrol to ensure the safety of residents.

Sambo also disclosed that security forces, including soldiers, police and militias, have launched a search operation, tracking the bandits to their hideout in a bid to rescue the abducted officer. The whereabouts of the abducted officer remain unknown.
