Cambridge shooting: 3 youths charged, including 12-year-old girl

Waterloo Region police say they have arrested and charged three youths, including a 12-year-old girl, following a shooting that injured a man in Cambridge, Ont., last week.

Police allege three youths got into the man’s car around 2:30 a.m. on August 18, when an altercation broke out and he was shot.

They say the car left the road and fell into the Grand River, partially submerging the vehicle, after which the three youths escaped and left the injured 22-year-old man behind.

Police, who had said the alleged incident was likely targeted, said the injured man was rescued by emergency services and taken to hospital where he was treated for a gunshot wound.

Investigators say a 17-year-old boy, a 14-year-old girl and a 12-year-old girl, all from Kitchener, were arrested and a firearm was found during a search of their home.

Waterloo police say the youths face several charges, including robbery with a firearm and aggravated assault.
