BTS SUGA’s questioning denied for today; Police and idol’s agency correct false reports

In a recent development, the Seoul Yongsan Police have clarified that BTS member SUGA will not be appearing for police questioning today, August 22, despite earlier reports suggesting otherwise. On August 21, a media outlet had reported that SUGA’s questioning was scheduled for August 22 and that he would not be addressing the press before his appearance. This led to a flurry of activity as reporters and camera crews gathered outside the Seoul Yongsan Police Station early this morning, eager to capture footage of SUGA’s arrival.
However, as of 10 AM KST on August 22, the Seoul Yongsan Police have stated that SUGA’s police questioning is still “being scheduled” and no specific date has been confirmed. Additionally, Big Hit MusicSUGA’s agency, issued a statement on the same day, saying, “SUGA will not appear for his police questioning today. We apologize for correcting the false news report late. At this time, we cannot answer when his questioning will take place”, as quoted by AllKpop. This clarification comes amid intense media scrutiny and public interest, as fans and journalists alike were left waiting in anticipation outside the police station.
For context, on August 7, the Seoul Yongsan Police Station announced that SUGA had been booked on charges of violating the Road Traffic Act due to drunk driving. This incident occurred on August 6 in the Yongsan district when SUGA, riding an electric scooter alone while under the influence, fell and was discovered by a police officer. The officer, detecting the smell of alcohol, then transported him to a nearby police station for further investigation.
