Microsoft today unveiled a range of new accessibility accessories for Xbox, as well as 3D-printable files for adaptive controllers to meet the needs of a wider variety of gamers.

“At Xbox, we are committed to empowering everyone to play the games they want, with the people they want, where they want, and in the ways that work for them. That includes our mission to make gaming accessible to the more than 425 million gamers with disabilities around the world,” the company said in a blog post.

The first of the accessibility features announced is a new Xbox Adaptive Joystick, a wired companion to Xbox controllers designed specifically for gamers with limited mobility. It features four button inputs, a standard Xbox joystick, and a bumper-trigger combination, all of which are customizable and can be remapped individually.

Microsoft has announced that the Xbox Adaptive Joystick will launch in early 2025 in select Xbox markets around the world. It will be sold exclusively on the Microsoft Store.

Microsoft is also offering 3D printable files for a range of six new customizable toppers that will allow users to better customize their gameplay. These include plate, dome, stick, pull-style, sphere, and custom toppers, which can be customized in height and width to better fit each user.

Users interested in these new joystick toppers can head over to the Xbox Design Lab, select a joystick topper shape, customize it, download the 3D printable file they receive via email, and print it out.

Other accessibility devices unveiled today include the 8BitDo Lite SE 2.4G Wireless Controller and ByoWave Proteus Modular Controller, both available for purchase now.

According to Microsoft, the tech giant has worked with the Gaming & Disability community and non-profit organizations to develop these new accessibility offerings. The company aims to make gaming more accessible while continuing to deliver new experiences to gamers around the world.
